A couple of days ago. Its early morning and we're heading towards
Seattle when all of the sudden the 'Coolant Temperarure' warning light
flashes up on the dashboard. We took the first exit on the freeway to
check the cause and it turned out the water pump belt has worn out and
flew of the pulleys, thus causing the pump to stop and the coolant
fluid to overheat (if we'd continued driving it would ultimately
damage the engine). We had to call for road assistance which towed us
to the nearest mechanic shop (a service included in the car
insurance). The belt had to be exchanged and this wasn't included. We
also learned all other belts need to be replaced, but this doesn't fit
in our budget so we continue hoping they will hold on three more
weeks. But becase they put back on the old belts, everytime we start
the car the belts make a horribly embarassing whistling noise...Yet,
as Mariusz said: 'Our Caddy is like a good old boxer - beaten up here
an there, but he still goes out in the 8th round'.
